Cell Lead - Press

Grayslake, IL

Harger, a leading manufacturer of lightning protection and grounding components, is seeking an experienced Cell Lead (Press/stamping) to support our Manufacturing Department. The Cell Lead sets up and operates a variety of machines in order to produce products according to the customers’ specifications in a timely and efficient manner. In addition, the Cell Lead leads the operations of the Press Cell by monitoring and maintaining high quality production and practicing lean manufacturing principals.

Pay range $25 – $27/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, operate and monitor production machinery.
  • Lead the operations of the manufacturing cell.
  • Collaborate with Plant Management and other cell leads to complete production orders.
  • Complete first piece inspection of product to ensure it meets quality standards and continually monitor quality during assembly.
  • Motivate team members to enhance production quantity and maintain high production standards.
  • Inspect finished orders and verify all criteria and special instructions are met before moving the order to the Shipping Department.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Evaluate tools and equipment to ensure they are working properly. Trouble-shoot when there is a malfunction. Advise the Production Cell Supervisor of all equipment problems.
  • Train new employees and existing team members in equipment operation, manufacturing processes and safety rules and procedures.
  • Monitor Gemba boards on a daily basis. Identify concerns and provide solutions to the Production Cell Supervisor.
  • Assist with the daily work by performing various exothermic welds, set-up and operate machinery, trouble shoot press machine, weld as needed
  • Order all routine supplies to ensure efficient operation of the cell.
  • Maintain accurate work records.
  • Monitor team members’ performance. Assist the Production Cell Supervisor with performance appraisals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate computer experience.
  • Die Set-up experience and understanding.
  • Team Lead experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of machine operator experience, preferably with stamping press, drill press and hydraulic press.
  • Exothermic and MIG and TIG welding experience preferred.

Pay range $18 – 19.80/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various machines and assemble parts as directed by Cell Lead.
  • Read and understand bill of materials and blueprints of drawings.
  • Communicate with Cell Lead on all issues related to discrepancies on drawings or BOM.
  • Work closely with the Quality department to conduct inspections during the production process and verify product meets customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Operate air and power tools as needed in order to aid in the manufacturing process.

2nd shift hours: 2:30pm – 11:00pm

Must be available to train on 1st shift (6:00am – 2:30pm)

Pay range $16.00 – $17.60/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic machinery set up functions by using preset program. Make minor adjustments to programs as needed.
  • Understand specifications required to fabricate products by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings and other written material.
  • Prepare and load materials onto the machine.
  • Perform basic tooling changes, as needed.
  • Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, thread gages, gage pins and tape measure.
